Experimental, numerical and analytical investigations of masonry corners: Influence of the horizontal pseudo-static load orientation

The present work aims to expand the knowledge of behaviour masonry corners, which are capital obtain an integral seismic response in buildings. In particular, influence load orientation (from π/4 π/2) is investigated experimentally, numerically and analytically. Both units interfaces have been subjected a material characterisation process, following pseudo-static 1:4 scaled experiments on tilting table conducted symmetric dry-joint corner. experimental results also simulated using discrete element model. Finally, new analytical limit analysis model has developed, considers both numerical observations accounts for rocking-sliding flexural mechanisms. general, good agreement found between three approaches, terms collapse mechanism multiplier.
